You might want to contact a dog trainer. Someone who trains for herding would be very familiar with border collies. It's just as easy to train them to do what you don't want as it is to train them to do what you actually want. They aren't like a Golden Retriever or poodle. I think with the right "tricks" both of your pups could become good with the chickens and become valuable assets to your homestead.
