Purchasing a Silkie: Question about care

Shes cute. My daughter keeps silkies, now hers have plenty of outdoor exposure, they have the privilege of rain, even hail this week. They have access to coops but handle the weather just fine, i admit i was concerned yet everything i have read saystheir cold hardy. They eat what the rest of theflock do, ihavenot heard of issues with them needingextra supplements before so cant offer. input there.

As for the vitamins I always follow the recomendations on the package. Example my package says 1 ounce of vitamin packet to a gallon of drinking water that's for the mixture of vitamin A D and E vitamin B says 1/4 teaspoon per gallon. The vitamins are given for one week a month. Usually the vitamins I purchase are specifically for chickens so
it gives the rate of powder per water ratio. What kind of vitamin are you using? If your giving straight vitamin E capsules you can give one capsule squeezed onto food a day for 5 days. It might cause loose stool through. But it will work. When my birds had wry neck I started out using human vit. E CAPSULES also. It won't hurt them. Best wishes and hopes this helps.

My supplement is a liquid drop meant for humans, and the bottle says six drops for a normal, adult human. However, I know my grandmother(who I got it from), used it for her dogs. Do you know how many I.U.s per day you gave your silkies, just roughly? Thanks.

Their is roughly .035 oz to a gram each pack contains 40 grams in the total weight of the pack the vitamin E is 1,100 iu for the whole pack serving size is 1 ounce. I've never been very good at math but if serving size is one ounce and in the packet there is 40 grams for the whole packet its 1,100 iu. If you can do the math on that you will come up with how many iu in each serving. I would do it for you if I were better in math. Sadly it does not break down the iu for each serving. But if the serving is one ounce and each packet contains 40 grams for the entire packet it has 1,100 iu I suppose you can break it down. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. My packets are so easy to use. I just put one ounce per gallon of water and no math is involved. but I have given you the information and if your good at math you should be able to break it down and find out each iu per serving once you do I would use that amount. That' answer will equal to what I give my birds in iu. Sorry I'm not good at the math. I hope this helps anyway. I'm used to giving the vitamins the easy way. One ounce to one gallon of water. I wish you the best. This is all the information I have on my packet.i wish it broke it down per serving but it does not. hopefully with this info you can figure out the iu per serving. I've never been very good at math. God bless and good luck.
