Purina Duck Chow excess

Soooo duckies decided to make a big ole pile of their Purina Duck chow beneath the plate of new stuff I take out everyday. What do y’all with Purina Duck chow do with the excess stuff on the ground?

Wow! That is a lot of duck food, you can just not give them more food tomorrow until they eat it off the ground. In the long un though you could get a real feeder that is free choice, and you can pu a catch tray under it. I do this with a random lid for and old garbage can or a large plastic bin. But just something to catch the spilled food with. OR yo could get a feeder from the website Granpa's feeders! I love these! tHey are awesome! No spill, water proof, and rodent proof! They are on the expensive side for sure, but totally worth it! Oh and if yo buy a grandpa's feeder, it could take up to a mont plus to arrive because they are made in New Zealand, this depends on where you live, but don't be alarmed if you order it, an dit take a bit to arrive.

I use heavy rubber feed bowls, I have the same ones for my horses, they work really well and are sturdy and I have basically no food mess. Before I switched to them, I would rake up any excess food and throw it away so it didn't spoil and get moldy and make the ducks sick.

Or you could skip my expensive idea and take the cheeper easy approach!

I only use the bowls because we have a lot of bears, and I dont trust keeping food out for them at night, so I just feed them down in front of the house, i was going to go with the feeder idea though, but then the bear activity picked up!!

They still knock them over occasionally, but usually they finish most of their food at feeding time, and the sneaky little mice get the rest, my duck caught one the other day sneaking food out of the dish, she was so happy with herself, running all around, everyone chasing her!!! Lol

Do it! I LOVE those feeders! They are 100% Animal proof too! They would keep the bears out, rodents, and weather! I would advice both of you purchase them! You do have to teach them how to use it, but it was really easy to teach mine!

I originally switched to large ceramic pasta bowls to prevent my ducks from tipping their dishes, but my one duck still loves to shovel the oyster shells out of the one dish with her bill I started putting the dishes on a food tray and it keeps any spillage from ending up on the ground. You can find them pretty cheap on Amazon.
