Purina Flock Raiser?

As far as I know Purina doesn' just make for tsc. So if it's a quality issue would have come from purina.

Some of the color differences may have been on ingredient choices. Wonders (if they use it) of a cost effective computer. Finds the best deals on same protein based ingredient.

Wheat mids for corn will give a greyer product over a more yellow.

Fish meal for soybean meal will make it a darker brown.

Even if there is fat added liquid over dry will change the appearance.

So some color change could be age, mill it was made, or ingredients added.

As to be expected, here's Purina's answer; Thanks for reaching out to us today. The products are manufactured at the same facility. The year is 2017 and then the month, day of the month, plant and shift. Since these are both from Statesville, NC, there is not a plant variance that would be the cause. Ingredients used can cause color changes. However, if you are uneasy feeding the one that is more gray in color, I would suggest returning it to TSC for replacement. I did goof up on the lot numbers, I accidentally used same facility codes, I let Purina know, I'll see if they respond.

I'm a bit confused, I just picked up 2 bags of Purina Flock Raiser, from TSC, when I emptied them into my storage bin, they were different colors, one greyish, the other beige. What's up? It shouldn't matter which plant manufactured it, if using the same ingredients/formula, right? Actually looks like the layer/raiser blend, I did previously.
Am a little late to this thread but I've seen the same thing with FR and think the ingredients vary(first 3 are listed as 'products') as well as the manufacturing process can have glitches. Have seen varying colors and texture, once got some dusty stuff once with chunks of compressed feed....figured - mixer glitch.
Never had any problem with them eating it<shrugs>none dropped dead or got sick.

Almost due a feed run, so the girls don't seem to mind it either. :)
