Purina okay to feed ducks?

If you can get Purina chick starter then you should be able to get Purina Flockraiser which would be a better option in general for your ducklings. I have used it from the start with my ducks and geese and didn't have any troubles.

I agree, i use that food here too, right from the start as well.

do you think an 8 quart bucket such as:

would be okay sitting on the ground for them? or what do you all use to water your ducks?

I am not sure how tall that is... but in general, you just need something short enough for them to reach into but deep enough for them to dunk their head into. They need to be able to clear their nostrils and wash their eyes. But you won't need that bucket for a bit as when they are little, they could drown in a big waterer. They need to get all their feathers in before they can go in unsupervised deep water. My favorite duckling waterer is to use an old milk jug. When they are just a week or two old, I just use a shallow tupperware or similar container, but as they grew I began using the milk jug. You just cut a hole about 3/4 of the way up the jug - big enough for them to put their heads into and drink and dunk, but not big enough for them to get in and swim. It just keeps everything from getting soaked all the time as they are extremely messy!

I also wrapped tape around the edges where I cut so it wouldn't be sharp. Then I would just take them for supervised, short swims in the sink or a little basin. As they grew I let them use the bathtub. They are lots of fun to watch swim! If you do take them for swims, make sure they are short until they have their feathers and also that they get back under that heat lamp to dry so they don't get too chilled.

I use those, but not flat backed accept in the barn. That said these are adults, well youngest are 6mths. How old are these ducks that your getting? as ducklings one they couldn't reach it and two could drown if they did.

I start off with chick waterers myself other make stuff then as they get older i go to a bigger chicken waterer then moved to buckets, ducklings grow like weeds doesn't take long.
