Purple feet and bumblefoot

Sometimes giving a capsule to a chicken can be tricky, I've given a lot of animals a lot of pills, I always open the mouth and double check to see it went down and noticed capsules can get stuck to inside of mouth or throat easy. So If you're comfortable having the chicken sit on your lap and getting her open her mouth so you can put it in her mouth, you could dip the end of it in a little yogurt so that it does go down the gullet easy without getting stuck. It's hard to explain how to get a chicken to willingly open her mouth and hold open here, but I start with petting her softly, then with palm over head, just gently wrap my fingers around the outside of her beak, near where beak meets feathers, on the sides of her mouth, as she sits in my lap, 9 out of 10 chickens will open their beak and sit there waiting several seconds with beak wide open, Giving me time to slip a pill in with the other hand. Then they close the beak I pet the bird and I actually rub under beak down the throat gently in a downward motion to get her reflex swallowing. Then I Gently wrap my fingers around her beak again so when she opens her mouth I can look inside and make sure I do not see the pill anymore, and that she swallowed it. Sorry it sounds rather complicated and wordy here, but the whole thing only takes a few seconds. If the bird struggles and doesn't like the 1st time you pet her gently get her to relax and try again, it may take a few times but once they realize what your trying to do, the next time giving a pill and every time thereafter goes much easier. After swalling pill, it's time for a few mealworms and a drink of water to chase it down. If you are not comfortable giving a chicken a pill then mixing it with yogurt getting her to eat it would also work, Assuming that she likes to eat yogurt. I have some chickens that eat anything you put in front of them and others that are very picky So you want to make sure whatever you try she does get this medicine into her system, as opposed to all over the outside of her beak and all over you as she shakes her head.

This is how it's going after 2 weeks of amoxicillin. Been washing it out as often as I can. This hen always keeps this foot up the other one is walking with a slight limp. Both of them are going through a molt right now.
