@Charwolf How your little guy doing? Did he make it through the weekend?

I took him to the vet to be euthanized. He couldn’t use the left side of his body and still wasn’t able to stand...and more and more red gut/stuff was coming out of his umbilical area. I took him yesterday afternoon. Poor little fella. I feel horrible for my daughter..she’s been looking forward to these chicks all quarantine. I’m fairly certain it was my fault... it’s been fairly humid here in Oregon and I struggled to get my humidity Low enough the first 18 days. We’re gonna order chicks from the same place I ordered the eggs. The seller is amazing and I can’t recommend them enough! It’s Thornfield poultry if anyone is curious and they have been so kind and helpful during all this!

Aww, so sorry to hear this! Sometimes no matter how hard we try we there isn't anything we can do. I hope you can get chicks soon and that they're super healthy for you!

What a rough first go. That would be especially difficult to experience. Especially for a child. You haven't gained nothing. You're much wiser now and that knowledge will carry over to the next hatch. It's unfortunate the learning curve is so steep and heartbreaking.

If you're not limited in space in your incubator considering adding a couple local eggs into the mix. Tip the scale in your favor.

Yes, I think we’re going to try again with local eggs and during the summer/fall when the humidity isn’t so high here. And possibly even not so dark of eggs that way I can candle as well!
