Just noticed a relative small purple area on the back of my sapphire gem’s comb. She’s about 18 months, still laying, eating, and drinking and should be starting to molt soon. Anything to be concerned with/something I should do?

If she's behaving normally, then I would just keep an eye on her. While a dark or purple comb can sometimes mean a heart or respiratory issue (not enough oxygen) it can also sometimes happen due to stress or excitement and may resolve on it's own. And some birds just have pigment in the comb that makes it look darker. In the winter it could be a sign of frostbite.

I see this occasionally on my BO cockerel, not always in the same area. I think I've seen it on one of my BA pullets too. It comes and goes.

Today her comb is completely red and back to normal. I’ll keep an eye on it but may just be one of those things. Thanks for the input/insight
