Hens go broody when you don’t want them to… and won’t go broody when you do. 
I noticed that one of my pullets (12 weeks old) had a bit of blood running down from her eye onto her beak. It looks like she's been pecked in the eye. Anyway, I picked her up to get a close up look and as she snuggled into me it sounded like she was purring!! It also looked like she has a runny nose (??) but that might be from the watery eye.
I checked on her today and the eye looks fine but she's still making purring noises.
Anyone elses hens make funny noises or has mine been listening to next door's cat??
