Put eggs in the bator 9-9-12 anyone want to hatch along????? :0)

Could he have inhaled water? I just hate seeing them suffer

I don't know, I guess he could've. I had a very small, shallow dish of water in there. No telling. I guess we'll never know.

Quote: No, I didn't dry incubate. I did what the directions said on the incubator and apparently it didn't work out so well. So I've got 3 thermometers on it, 1 digital says 98.9, the one on the bator says 99.9, the regular thermometer says 102. how many thermometers should I have in there. I stuck a digital thermometer in the hole on top (for taking kids temps) and it says 100.3. I have no idea which one to believe.

My incubator says to run humidity wayyy too high. Much higher than even the lockdown humidity. I try to keep it between 30-45% (45 being the max). I don't add water at all until day 18.

Your humidity could have very well caused his lung/breathing issue. My first died like that - and that was the only time I added water before day 18.

I think your good on the temps. 98.9 won't hurt them at all. 99.9 won't either. 102 would, but I never trust the incubator temp. It is always higher than it actually is.

I ran my humidity last hatch between 45-55% what it recommended. This hatch I'm running about 25%. That's what I've done in the past. Not sure if that's too low. I'll have to candle and check air cells. I'll do that tonight after it gets dark.

25% is not too low.

Okay more questions.

What incubator do you have? Do you keep a hydrometer?

I had 2 digital hygrometers on it. Now I have 3. Last hatch was my first with this incubator. Hovabator Genesis. My last bator was a very old Little Giant that would spike the temp up to 108 then down to 94. This one stays very constant at what I set it at. I just need to get it fine tuned out. These eggs are also shipped - don't know if that has anything to do with it.

What model though? Is it the 1588 with the digital display?

My display humidity is always lower than the hydrometer by 10%. I go by the hydrometer.
