Putting eggs in lockdown today...question

Yea I knew I would be no help! Sometimes I like to hear it will be ok, rather than nothing at all. But congrads Mama!!!! I have been stalking this post because I love hearing about babies!

I have 16 eggs set.

One question: one of the chicks has this long nasty protrusion from its butt that's partly bloody, partly poopy-looking. What do I do about this?

It sounds like it may be egg gunk. That does look well, poopy. I prefer to leave it and let it fall off by itself, it usually doesn't take long.

Oh, good. I'm not messing with it for now. All the other eggs are slimed though. Ha. Maybe that's it's method for getting rid of the gunk--just spread it all over.
