Putting eggs in the bator on July 25, does anyone wanna hatch along???

i can't wait to see him or her when it comes out thats why the hen was starting to me a little aggressive with me i put in a few treats and i saw her shoved up in the said having her body all up in the corner then i thought i herd a little pep i looked in and bam a little pep hole

I had to candle this afternoon because I am DYING to know if my mixed ones were growing at all. I got these from a local craigslist ad for $3/dozen. I don't know how old they were, they had been refrigerated, and she had just recently gotten a roo so I wasn't even entirely sure they were fertile. Before putting them in, I broke open the smallest, odd shaped one to check fertility and they looked to be. I put 11 in the bator. Three of them are growing for sure! The others are too dark or too early to see anything in (I've only had them in since 8/1).
So I checked the rest also and now I have a decent count. I marked the ones I'm pretty sure are not doing anything and I'm going to pull them out on day 10 and triple check then remove the bad ones. So I'm going to not candle again until Tuesday.

Heres my count:
Cochins: put in 7 eggs on 7/25- 1 good, 1 questionable. 5 removed.
Polish: put in 10 on 7/28- 1 good, 1 questionable.
Wyandottes: put in 2 on 7/28. 1 good, 1 questionable.
Easter Eggers: put in 2 on 7/28. 1 good, 1 questionable.
Mixed breeds: put in 11 on 8/1. 3 good, 8 questionable.

So I started with 32 eggs and I'm now down to 19.

There is another local with Barred Rocks and Delawares. I'm going to get a dozen of each from her too.


I am having so much fun with this.

Sounds like momma is in lockdown. They won't get up at all at this point. That is to cool, I am excited for you. Can't wait to see pics and updates. Be careful though, sometimes if you have eggs she is sitting on that started on different dates they might abandon perfectly good babies that have a day or two more to cook. I had one do this another chicken put an egg in with the eggs she was already sitting on and after the first ones hatched she was out of there and she had three eggs left. I put those three eggs in the bator and 6 days later one more baby hatched the other two were duds.

I just thought I would update our situation. I don't know why but, this hatch our humidity doesn't want to be stable. It keeps fluctuating about 20% and it is driving me crazy. I have done about five hatches before this in this bator and never had a problem. Now that I have expensive eggs in there my humidity is all over the place.

We are gonna keep chugging along and hopefully these babies are tough and determined to live. After all this they are gonna need to be tough. I think I am gonna candle tonight.

I'm so sorry. That has got to be so frustrating! Hope it workable out ok. Could it be your hygometer and not the bator?
