Putting eggs in the bator on July 25, does anyone wanna hatch along???

I have read that a lot of chicks from assisted hatches have leg problems simply because they don't get that chance to push against the egg and strengthen their legs before they pop out into the world

That interesting but i wonder if they need the assist BECAUSE of bad legs that dont allow them to kick out?Hum.Also read some have a little hinky leg but it rectifies itsel.I have one that happened to (an assist)) and another thats leg is really messed up is bent under neath him not to the side like he sat on it for 3 weeks and he was an assist too.
The first chick got ok onhis own although hes way smaller than the rest but fine.No gimpy leg now.

I like the look of the lavender opinions also the blue Andalusian, but most of my chickens should have a job add in laying and for eating, but with small children coming and going, a mild temperament is a must, now if I can incorporate looks into this I'm all in.

Orps are pretty mild but if you want looks and a 4 H disposition then Brahmas are excellent huge beautiful guys and calm.Silver Laced Gold Laced and Light or Buff all are gorgeous...or so i think anyway and i read good for kids.Late to lay i have heard but dont know and almost cold impervious.

I'm in central Texas, it rarely gets all that cold. maybe 20° two or three days in a row once in the winter. The heat and humidity is what I really worry about. My orpingtons seem to have done okay on the hottest days I went out to there pen and spray a water must over there shaded area

Well the cold isnt a problem for sure there!

I am excited today...I got my first ever egg today from my Buff orp!!
Too bad i didnt know and it sat there all day in 97 degree heat
Afraid to eat it now. Should have looked as i was out there and knew she kept going in the coop and squawking up a storm. then got quiet later.I was trying to finish the nest boxes coop right then !!Got it done but she had stopped squawking
