Putting eggs in the bator on July 25, does anyone wanna hatch along???

Its been a busy week so I haven't had a chance to update on my hatch but here it goes...

4 out of 5 mutt eggs hatched. My humidity dropped for some reason and shrink wrapped two chicks so I had to help them. I just reopened the portions they had already zipped and pulled a little shell off, put them back, and let them free themselves from their eggs. Unfortunately, my hatching bator is so small that opening the lid makes the temp and humidity drop immediately to room air and it doesn't recover quickly. I lost the last egg from it but I almost lost three so I think it went well.

The final group is going to be left in the LG. I had 13 out of 14 go into lockdown (the 14th actually developed but somehow got stuck in the turner and cracked on day 14 when I candled, he didn't make it to day 18)
I struggled so badly with the humidity in my homemade bator that I'm hoping I can prevent that with the LG. I filled the troughs and added a sponge under the wire. The humidity initially was 60% but has dropped to 55% since I added water and removed the turner. I'm thinking the temp just needs to come back up and stabilize and the humidity should go back up, right? Maybe the water I added wasn't hot enough. Its day 18 so I figure I have the rest of the day and tomorrow to make the humidity adjustments.

There's a hurricane on it's way. I went to Walmart and bought a AC/DV inverter so if the power goes out, or if we evacuate, I can plug the incubator into the car.

Thinking ahead this time.

It is hard to get that humidity up and keep it up.I use clean rags below where i stick the straw in to add water and then cover them with water it helps.Once the eggs start hatching seems like the humidity stays up then..moisture from the chicks i guess.

I LOVED those things when I was a kid. They were called Wuzzles.
My parents almost never got the "cool" toys for us (they had 4 kids, so it usually wasn't financially possible) but I begged and begged and begged until I got ButterBear AND EllaRoo, the elephant kangaroo one, for my 9th birthday. I still have them in a box in the attic.

Omg I lost one of my quail this morning. He dissent seem well yester day. It was the little guy that had a crack in it's egg. I was really rooting for him. But he just wasn't growing nearly as fast as every one else.

Awwwww I am sorry :< I keep worrying about my little singleton Serama baby...she is two weeks old and just staying so tiny. I hope she ends up just a super small bird, rather than a failure to thrive. She eats and drinks normally, she's just staying itty bitty
