I made an appointment for the vet we was driving there. My husband heard how sick she was she couldn’t hardly breathe he said he would finally put her down she is seven years old. Poor little thing was suffering. But he looked on the Internet how to put a chicken down humanely. I went with him so I could calm her down. You look on the Internet about stretching a chickens neck humanely and they don’t feel anything on my God she did feel it it broke my heart I can’t stop crying. I heard her scream he felt bad too and I said just said get it done quickly but he was halfway through the poor little thing felt it all my God I’m never do that again or have anybody do it again screen. She was so sweet she was my favorite chick and she got up on my lap she would never be scared of me.

I am so sorry, :hugs it's never an easy thing on the heart, but ending their suffering is always the right decision. Some vets will put them down gently, a sedative first, then the killing juice. I hope your heavy heart heals soon. :hugs

I'm so very sad for you! You did the right thing to end her suffering but it's really tough especially when it's a favorite. I'm sure you gave her a good life. Please try to focus on that and all the good things and times not this one short bit of bad.

I’m sorry that you lost your chicken, and the experience was upsetting. Don’t feel guilty that you wanted to keep her from suffering. There are a number of methods such as using pruning shears to remove the head, cutting the jugular veins, and cervical dislocation. It is never easy to put your chicken down, and some methods are easier than others.

I am an animal lover and have lost pets- I know how bad you must have felt but just focus on the fact that in your heart you were doing the best you knew and that your beautiful hen had a good life. Grief is a difficult thing but life goes on and I know youll be fine soon.

oh gosh I am so sorry :( that would also make me so upset. most vets will do a 'compassionate euthanasia' if another bird in future needs it, even if they don't treat chickens. sending hugs. I'm so sorry for your loss and this experience. glad she had a nice long life.
