I am interested in buying pigeons from one of my neighbors but she only has 2 and I wanted to start out with 4 or so. If I bought 2 from her and got the others from someone else could I put the birds together right away? I'm used to raising chickens where you can't immediately put 2 flocks together.
Also, I didn't ask my neighbor b/c I wanted an unbiased answer.
Thank you!!

Getting From Different Places Is No Problem . Just Get Equal Males And Females . Make Sure They Have Plenty Of Room . Each Pair Has There Own Nest And Perches. Look At Who Ever You Are Getting Birds From The Loft Are The Birds Sick Or Healthy Looking. It Would Not Hurt To Isolate New Birds For 2 Weeks To A Month,

It's not as much of an issue with pigeons as with other fowl. They can't do much harm to eachother even if fights break out.

Violence isn't the problem. It's possible disease. Different flocks have different resistances built up, and may be carrying bacteria or viruses that don't bother them, but may bother your neighbor's birds. Make sure the birds you get are healthy. And if in doubt, quarantine them for a couple weeks before letting them in with your birds.
