I think SunnyChic is one of the most awesome people in the entire world!!! Mr B arrived at my Post Office this morning! He's currently in a cage in my pantry, freaking out a little, but obviously whole and healthy! Seeing him in person, I think I couldn't have asked for a more perfect match to counter my Priscilla's imperfections!!! Well, maybe if he had willow legs, but's darn close to perfectly perfect! I can't wait to introduce them and for her to finally get around to laying! My little Minorca roo, Darth Vader has finally been giving her the "attention" he gives the other girls,

so hopefully that's a sign that it will be soon!

What color eggs exactly do Pyncheons lay? I read light brown, but that can mean almost anything.

Priscilla has been hanging out in my newly remodeled coop where I have my 7 week old babies living and my son found a small egg there today. But the egg is white white, looks too big to me to have been laid by a hen as small as Priscilla (though I also can't believe the super jumbo size my petite red sexlink lays either!) It was also very very round with a super pointy end, if that makes any sense. I think my sultan must have laid it, but I thought I'd ask since I hadn't seen her in that coop, but Priscilla's been in there all the time lately. I guess I'll figure it our eventually. It will be nice to know they're laying either way. They're the only 2 of my spring batch that haven't laid yet! In fact, I have a bantam hen the same age that is sitting on eggs that are due to hatch this weekend! The huge difference in laying and broodiness between breeds is so amazing!

Thanks! My question was answered today by my pullets. Today, I got both a white bantam egg and a PINK bantam egg!!! Probably really considered cream colored, but it looks pink to me! Since my only other bantam hen has 3 babies and 4 more eggs due to hatch, they must be Priscilla and my sultan's!

Yay! They're finally laying!!! I'm excited about these babies my little bantam pullet is hatching. It's exciting every time. The only one I've seen is a cute puffy cheeked Easter Egger, but my dh said he also saw a small black chick with a white dot on its head and a yellow chick. I love my purebreds, but the mixes are so exciting to see what they turn into as they grow!

We had to give up on the quarantine. My younger boys decided to take Elvis outside and they put him down too close to the flock instead of way out in the pasture like they were supposed to. Of course my curious flock had to run over to check him out, so I decided that was the end of quarantine. No signs of illness, so I think we're good. He's such a sweet little thing! And now that Priscilla is laying, she's also much friendlier.

So Elvis and Priscilla, together at last! lol

Can't wait to hatch some babies in the spring!!!

By the way, I weighed them both. Priscilla is 1lb 4oz, Elvis is only 15.5oz!

Priscilla was attacked by a hawk yesterday. My fault for not making the time to get their run enclosed. I was planning on doing that for my bantams and letting the large fowl continue to range.

I think she's going to be ok, but she has 2 deep puncture wounds under each wing. I wasn't home. I was on my way home from picking up my preschooler and Kindergartner, whose school pet rabbit was also attacked by a hawk yesterday and was at the vet! The kids were on their way outside, they have the rabbits in a little outside pen most nice days. Their teachers threw things at it and it flew off. The rabbit was too heavy for it. wth? My son called me to tell me. He was able to chase off the hawk b/c of Elvis! I can't believe it! Elvis is the tiniest rooster ever! Priscilla and he have funnily enough seem to have bonded and tend to hang out together. Makes me wonder if they somehow know they're meant to be a pair or it's just b/c they are the same breed therefore have similar personalities! Anyway, Elvis was attacking the hawk when my son heard the ruckus and ran outside. He brought her in and put her in a rabbit cage with some food and water. She's eating and drinking fine and I put some betadine on her wounds, and she seems to be doing ok.

Sorry to hear about the hawk attack.....I hope things go better......(?) I hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving and a safe and wonderful Holiday Season!!!! Keep us posted on your hen..... I'm praying for her recovery...... Best to all, Rusty
