Do you like 'take' them for a walk?
Well I don't exactly take them by hand, I just open the gate. We live close to the woods. They follow me, I´m their "father" afterall...:D
Sometimes they stop somewhere even if i continue walking and if they don't see me, they start calling me. Then I whistle back or clap and they come running to me.

I want to take my little guy outside other than when I put him an empty, super fenced up chicken run (which he hates) - how to know if he won't just run for the hills? He seems to come when I call but I'd hate to have to warn the neighbors to watch out for my baby emu.. :)

Ciara got freaked out the first time I took her outside, even though she's imprinted on me and follows me around. I had to chase her down and pick her back up. She didn't go far from me, but she was still scared enough that she didn't want me grabbing her so that was an adventure.

So I would recommend at first definitely doing it in a fenced in area, just in case. Once he's used to the outdoors, it should be fine to just have him follow you around.
