What incubator are they in? What does your homemade tray look like? Trying to soak up as much info as possible :) I’m almost out of room in my garbage incubator and this roller turner doesn’t budge these large eggs.

A GQF Sportsman :) Let me see if I have a picture of my homemade tray (which is now full!).

Edit: Doesn't look like I have a picture. I'll try to remember to grab one next time I open the incubator.

That would be great! Since there is a wiggle, the GQF is doing well then. Going back and forth deciding on a GQF or a Brinsea 380. GQF is much more affordable.

Good to know! In the end, we’re just trying to hatch feathery velociraptors right :idunno

The velociraptors themselves were also feathery, haha. Blue, my juvenile that I hatched last year from a breeder in TX, is actually named after the velociraptor from Jurassic World.

Personally, I like GQF WAY better than brinsea. Not to interrupt lol, I just wanted to voice my opinion :)

Same, I wouldn't spend the big money on a Brinsea cabinet. There's no need, really. I used to have Brinseas (actually still do have an Octagon 20), but now that there are more less expensive options out there and it's not just a Styrofoam incubator or you spend big bucks for a Brinsea, I don't think I'd buy a Brinsea again.

They're definitely good incubators! Just way pricey.

A more scientifically accurate depiction of Blue from JW, and Blue (the emu's) namesake:

Wrists are still pronated, though. Which bugs me, haha.

(Also she isn't really even a velociraptor - the book that Michael Crichton used for research had a deinonychus skeleton mislabeled as velociraptor. So all the JP and JW raptors are really based on Deinonychus. Real Velociraptor was the size of a border collie.)

Need to hatch some of those 😆

Have you ever considered cassowary? I’m completely aware of how dangerous they are, but would be quite the specimen to have.

I think I'd draw the line there, lol. I've seen one very up close at a zoo before. My brain immediately did this thing where it told me that that was a real live dinosaur and I should not get closer. Seriously, as soon as it took some steps all I could think was 'dinosaur'.

Ostriches I'd consider. I've got a friend up here that has a pair of ostriches along with his emus and they're okay. I even petted them. Big, but don't set off 'this thing will kill me' vibes in my brain like that cassowary did.

Also they cost like $10,000 so there's that, haha.
