Quail and chickens. . .

No I do not have quail and chickens together, but my chickens freerange and we have wild California quail everywhere. I have hear of the many sad outcomes, but the quail run around with the chickens and nothing has happened yet. Why is this? Is it because we live in Washington?

New world quail are completely different than old world quail. That would be my guess as to why disease is not as much of an issue. Plus the native quail are running free, not cooped up and pooping in a contained space like you would see if you were housing them with chickens.
