Quail as house pets

I wouldn't, especially if you plan on letting it run around the house. My cats leave chickens alonw, but qauik are close to the size of wild birds and my cat has stalked one or two that get out when I'm trying to catch them.
Ok. My cat is outside the majority of the time. I'd be more worried about my dog. He never messes with the chickens, but he does go after the wild birds. Do you if there is a way I can teach him to leave him/her alone?

I'm sure there is a way to keep the dog from hurting the quail. If you introduce them properly and show that the quail is part of the family the dog might accept the quail, but I wouldn't know how to go about doing that.

Dogs can be unpredictable, one bite or a misplaced paw, playful or not, could mean the end of your quail or could cause some serious injuries. My dog has no pray drive, but apparently has a very possessive personality. Just a quail or another animal looking at his things will make him growl. I wouldn't risk it. My dog is locked up in his crate when my house quail is free ranging.

Quails are way smaller than chickens. Whether they are good with chickens isn't always an indicator of how they'll be with other birds. I've minded someone's dog a few times. The dog is good with chickens, but he wanted to attack the quails.
