Quail bedding switch to dirt and worms a good idea?

As the title says I am thinking about changing my quail's current bedding ( Becks better bedding that uses corn cob for horse) to topsoil with red wiggler worms. would this be a good safe Idea?

I would think so. I'd turn the the soil periodically and watch that it not become too wet/mud. My pens are screen bottom, movable and I move them from place to place to keep the birds on clean ground/grass.

From experience, excess moisture in the topsoil contributes to mud balls on quails' feet. I've had success using a mix of straight dirt and fine landscaping bark, turning it over regularly.

2/3 of my aviary is unroofed, so gets full rain and snow. When it gets muddy, I just add more bark. I muck the organic stuff out a few times a year (sooner if it starts to mold).

Peat moss works great.
I use it in all of my cages.

Thanks for the help but probably should of mention this in my first post but it is an indoor clear Tupperware contain for the winter until I am able to make them and outdoor place.
