I use the red hear bulb you buy for brooding and reptiles. I clip it to the wall of my brooder and since they're wood, they can tolerate it a bit more than cardboard.

Is the feed your getting chick sized or full pellets?

It was 96 but u know they couldn’t take it and kept at the corner of the end of the box due to excessive heat

No worries! Sounds like she's fine. My chicks do that all the time, it scares me to death!

Quail chicks are very frail. Some absolutely thrive, some do fine, other's just seem unwilling to survive. I'll see if I have a picture of what a dead toe actually looks like so you can see the difference.
