Quail Cage Cleaning Frequency - HELP!

I think I might drop dead if you put ten in there.
DEAD.

The space looks pretty small to me but I can't tell just how small by the picture.
Can you measure one of those areas?

I can't help myself. I know you didn't even ask for this but...

It looks like the cage is roughly 36 in by 18 in...which would make it about four and a half square feet but it's divided into three sections correct?

You can't possibly shove four quail each little section...can you?
That seems way too small.

I don’t know, I haven’t tried yet since they are only 4 weeks old and still in the grow out pens. I’ve seen some people put 6 in each section on FB but not really sure how that went for them. It didn’t look crowded but then again, pictures sometimes don’t give you a true view. I guess I will find out when it comes time to move them. Our contingency plan is if they don’t fit in a section, then we will cut the dividers in between and make it one large layer cage. So we shall see how that goes. Any insight on my original post? Any additional advice you’d like to provide would be great.

I think you should be more worried about them killing each other in such cramped quarters than them dropping dead from you cleaning around them.

Well I would hope that doesn’t happen! It most certainly was a concern hence the contingency plan! I mentioned in my initial post that I wasn’t certain how many we would be keeping since I have not used this cage, still researching and learning more about them everyday. I’ll be keeping a close eye since the cleaning frequency is more than likely going to be daily. So no opinion on the cleaning frequency questions from my original post?

You should clean when they're dirty. My chicks get their brooder cleaned every other day when they're tiny, and every day when they get bigger.

When they get moved outside, they get moved onto dirt. If they're in my garden beds, I hoe all the poop under about every other day. I don't even move the birds (I keep 8 per 20 square foot pen) because they like to follow the hoe around and grab the worms that get turned up. I get 4-9 eggs/day.

During spring and summer when they're on the weeds, I move their pens about once every two weeks to a clean spot, and the poop biodegrades in the place that they were.

#2 adult coturnix need approximately (at least) 1 sq ft floor space to be happy....so max 4 per space based on measurements given
#3 if at max capacity will most likely need to clean at least 1x weekly, possibly more depending on your particular keeping preferences (others who have posted here would probably clean more often than that)
#4 cleaning and interacting with quail does not typically interrupt laying (main issue is occasional escapee depending on set-up and personalities). adequate hours of daylight are more of a concern with laying.

It looks like the cage has an open bottom so I assume the poop will fall through on to a tray...I'd clean the tray multiple times a day because I am slightly nuts when it comes to poop.

Four quail per the whole top row and 4 quail per the whole bottom row...if you cut the dividers out.

I can not believe this company advertises that this set up with hold 60+ quail.

That is ridiculous.

sorry I was basing mine on “common sense” max 4 birds to 4.5 square feet.....so that would be per level not per space for ideal capacity
