Quail chicks

Never medicated because quail eat alot more than chickens and could OD on the medication. I feed mine the highest protein non-medicated feed I can find. Turkey/gamebird 28% is perfect. Less is fine and supplement with ground up dry kitten feed and/or hardboiled eggs at least once week.

I don't grind mine...but it wouldn't hurt...I sometimes start buttons on corn meal and boiled egg...I have had issues getting them going but have gotten better...I give the medicated and boiled eggs when the feed store doesn't keep up with me

As long as it's not medicated chick starter... I've heard that it's not good for quail...

Actually i found that if i dont feed the quails medicated feed that they die from coccidiosis. I lost 6 chicks over 3 days from a batch of 14 becuase of it. Once i fed them the medicated stuff i havent lost any since.

UGGGGGGGGGGGGG, medicated or non medicated? I guess everyone has their own opinion, but if I am feeding gamebird breeder, it is not medicated so should I medicate my birds at all?

I feed chick starter 24% and add cat food to it. I grind for the first week. If you keep the birds off the ground and the water clean you don't need medicated food.

My cortunix quail are off the ground and they have clean water. I guess I don't have to worry about medicating at all. Do they need grit or oyster shell? What about BW, do they need grit and oyster shell?
