Quail Class

Hi all, so my mom's birthday is on the 20th, and I am getting her 2 Rhode Island Reds. This isn't about quail.., but assuming I can ask this here lol. ANything I should know about the breed? She has been talking about how she wants more chickens and wants more breeds, and Wednesday, I am going to get them. they are 2 weeks old. I know NOTHING about the breed to be honest.

Nothing wrong with asking here, but you'll probably get better answers in the actual chicken forums.

(I don't have chickens, so I couldn't tell you much other than what I'd find online)

That's why I joined. Every time I had a question about quail (before I got any) and did a search, I ended up here.

I found a serama/silkie mix.. a bit pricey for a week old but, I'll take it lol
$15 for the chick

Super excited, and just wondering where I can buy feed with extra protein? Breeder said they need more protein.

Turkey starter. If you’re near tractor supply they have purina 30%.

That’s Bob, a male golden Manchurian. We hatched these from eggs we picked up locally back in May.

I got one in my snowie hatch. It’s got a mostly white body with dark spots here and there, and a red head that’ll probably turn dark as it ages. It’s very striking to see in the group.

It's day 16. 18 of 23 eggs made it to lockdown and 2 are pipped. Brooder is set up, waterer with stones is ready but my feed is still in trunk of the car. Still a long way to go before they need it so dh gets a reprieve until tomorrow.
So excited!
