Quail colors

I absolutely love quail, and any bird at that matter but quail have been the most interesting. I currently have 3. 2 female and one male. I started with 6 but over the years I lost them. In September my eldest one died at age 6. He was my baby and a Texas A&M. I also had another Texas I adopted with star gazers. Currently I have an Italian female, jumbo brown female and a Rosetta male. They are very curious I agree. They live inside in a temperature controlled environment. I take them out when the weather is nice so they can hide in the grass and play. They get very scared when they are outdoors so I dont do this often. It's fascinating to find other people out there that have these lil guys as pets rather than always for meat. It's hard to find someone to ask advice about them or get experience. There aren't many people around me that have them for pets as I do. The eggs are to die for and when my girls are laying daily I collect them and keep them all for myself since they are so yummy. The 3 quail I have right now are around 3 to 3.5 years old. View attachment 1640891 View attachment 1640892 View attachment 1640893

such beauties! where did you get them?

I have seen this video before but I watched it again because here I am! Just bought 18 MIXED EGGS!!!! SUPER EXCITED!!!

Don’t have my eggs yet but when I get them imma be bursting at the seems waiting to see what comes out!!!! Arrggf!!! The waiting!!

I have 4 pens currently - a set of browns, a mixed set browns/Texas, a set of California, and another small mixed batch in the grow out pen. I don’t know how many that is all together maybe around 30-35 or so. I had about 70 but we raise as meat/egg birds and we keep our favorites as breeders and we sell eggs around my area when we get too many.

So anyway I hope I get a silver in my mix! And some other cute colors! I love the little faces of quail they are so curious and when I go out to feed them they are always happy to see me - except the California’s they think imma kill them by looking at them LOL they are what I call my “bird box” yes just like the book - well the movie now anyway. They have scared away more predators than I can count!!! As soon as those birds start freaking out the raccoons will run like mad to get away LOL!
