Hello everyone!!

I am new to keeping button quail and have my first set of eggs in the incubator :wee

I've been trying to figure out what colours my guys are, and wanted to check up with someone who could tell me if I've got it right or not?
I'll post some pictures of them and what I think they are, if someone would like to check up for me, I'd really appreciate it!!

Thank you, I'm really excited to see what comes out of the eggs!!

I've got 12 now in the incubator and am having to stop myself from checking them constantly.

Do you have any insight onto wether or not I've gotten their colours right? I'm trying to figure out what colours I'm likely to get from them

Welcome! Buttons are so much fun!

I've not seen a bird marked like the cinnamon. White wing pied is only the first few feathers on the wing, and it looks like your guy has completely white wings. I'm thinking he's a carrier for tuxedo and it's bleeding through in odd ways.

That is a blue face hen. Although white throat feathers can be an indicator of double factor, the only way to confirm is to breed her to a non-blue face male. If all the babies are blue face, she is a double factor.

For the tuxedo hen, I'm wavering back and forth between normal and pearl. If you can't find a good back picture of a pearl vs normal hen, let me know.

The silver hen is a red breasted.

And yes, that is a normal red breasted hen.

Thank you for the replies, I'm really enjoying these little bundles of character ^^

So what is the difference between pied and splash then? could that explain what he is?

I am struggling to find comparisons between the normal and pearl hens, I thought there'd have been loads of comparison pics, but I cant seem to find many good quality ones :idunno

Splash is a white bird with splashes of colored feathers. Pied are patches of colors.

Here are pictures of the backs of a pearl hen and a normal hen. Hopefully these will help. Pearl Back.jpg Normal Back.jpg

I've ended up with two dark, and two light chicks. I'm really looking forward to seeing how they feather out

Anybody want to have a bash at predicting what colours they'll end up? (I know it can be difficult to tell until they've moulted into their adult feathers, just a bit of fun while I'm waiting!!)
