Do they usually wriggle before they hatch? Because this is the egg that when I candled it on the 13th day, what seemed to be it's head was at the larger end of the egg, in the air pocket. It's on the 16th day, and it's started wriggling since last night.
He's having a party in his shell. LOL
Some species of quail hatch earlier, for example I think it's button quail that hatch in 15-16 days and Coturnix quail (the one's I'm hatching) hatch in 17-19 days. It just depends on the breed Hasn't peeped yet, well, I haven't heard it, because of the fan (it makes a bit of sound). The egg moves when I make 'Mama' noises (like a mother quail or chicken). Quite adorable actually, first time that I've got to this stage in hatching eggs, so it's exciting! All I need is something to distract me from checking them every second.
That is our mother instinct kicking in...just make sure you let me know what happens and if they do hatch put pictures up please...I have never hatched quail before and I want to...I just have to wait til I get my cages and things together...this winter is going to be horrible and I cannot keep them in the house so I have to wait til spring and summer...
I heard that the egg is insulated itself, so if the temp is like that for a few hours it can kill. I don't trust my incubator -.-
Thanks, your help is appreciated! Hopefully I get some peeps soon
GOOD NEWS!!!
After not seeing the egg wiggle for a while I got worried, I kept on trying to be mama, and I heard this cheep cheep.
I started crying (I get emotional with these things). I am so happy!!
Update: Haven't heard them peep again, 1 wiggle.. are they resting?
Update again: They've gone back to peeping and wiggling, their cry sounds so innocent!
