I open my bator all the time during a hatch. My humidity is always around 40% and get very great hatch rates. I would say lower humidity... Trust me, my first hatched were ugly; to admit it. It takes time. Don't worry! Be happy

I had three hatch. Im gonna keep trying till I figure it out.
I built my own bator and put quail eggs in them. My friend that I got them from does not know if they were a day old or four days old. He first told me they were a day. This is suppose to be day 18. I had planned to turn the turner off on day 21. I came home today to find one hatched and crushed by the turner. I removed it and noticed two other eggs with open and can see the birds inside. I can see one moving but the other one is not. I disconnected the bottom ow of the turner so that no more are crushed. The humidity is at 60%. The temp has remained 99-100 the entire time. I don't know what I am suppose to be doing now. If the eggs are days apart and some hatch do I go ahead and remove them? I am afraid that I have already messed up removing dead chick....
