I am very comfortable hatching chicken eggs and am starting 36 eggs tomorrow. When I picked up my eggs, I was given 6 quail eggs. I have no idea if they are fertile but I would like to try to hatch them. I plan on putting these eggs in with my chicken eggs because I only have 1 bator (Hova Bator Genesis 1588). So I have a few questions...my incubator is preset at 100.0. With humidity I ususally run my chicken eggs "dry" so humidity is generally 30%-40% during incubation and then I raise it up to 70%-75% for lock down. I think I read that quail eggs take 17 days so I was planning on starting them at day 3 or 4 of my chicken egg incubation so they go into lock down at the same time.

I am wondering if all of this will work and will my incubation set up for my chicken eggs also work for the quail eggs? Also if there is anything else that I need to know about quail because I HAVE NO CLUE!!!

I spent the eve researching quail incubation and now feel comfortable with the temp and humidity settings. But I need to come up with a way to modify my egg turner. I am not going to be home enough to hand turn. I ended up cutting holes in the bottom of paper egg cartons and then lined them with paper Easter grass to keep them from wobbling. My only concern is the paper acting like insulation and over heating the eggs. What do you think? Any other ideas?
