Quail eggs on chicken rails?

Hey guys,

Can I put quail eggs on this automatic egg Turner and assume it'll work?

I'm planning to get quail rails soon, I just got a shipment of eggs I wasn't expecting and had to make do with what I have on hand.

Experience?

In other news...I'm working on souping up my farm innovators model with a forced air fan, quail rails, etc. The nr360 is not working as well as I'd like. Maybe it's my climate, but my quail eggs end up turning sideways and not getting turned by the auto-turner. ESPECIALLY if I double up eggs in the holes.

I've gotten more than 50% hatch rate, but it's a hassle to have to keep shuffling around the eggs. And since the top is hard to get back on right...

Oh, and also, the moment I open it, all the chicken try to fall out. I ended up strangling one the other day, as it stuck it's head out when I was trying to slip a hand in. >.<

Anyway, yeah. Not my favorite. If anyone is interested in my nr360 and is in Hawaii, I'm happy to sell it to you at a discount.

yes coturnix eggs typically do fine in chicken egg rails.....you just have larger capacity by changing to quail rails

Before I got quail rails, I would cut out a ring of either the paper pulp egg trays or foam and place them around the egg in the standard chicken rails, they didn't fall out or get in an awkward position.

mine seem to be sitting okay in the holes. One was too small, so I decided not to hatch it.

I just did a hatch of courtnix in a universal turner. It did fine.
I wish I did have the quail inserts though. Next time.
