quail eggs

i have a quick question, i was thinking about getting some quail for eggs and was wondering if this was a viable plan. basicaly how often do they lay, daily like a chicken, monthly like a pigeon or dove, or in large batches yearly as in the case of pheasants and other gamebirds, any information you could give me would be helpfull, this is just about the only bird i have no experience with.

They lay eggs daily like a chicken. I raised the jumbo coturnix and they were very prolific.

thanks, i really wanted to raise a dual purpose flock of chickens for eggs and cull out the cocks for meat but my mom wasn't into that. i might end up doing this with quail though.

If they have enough light, about one a day. I had 3 fried quail eggs and one duck egg for breakfast this morning

If you give the coturnix 16 hr of light, you will get about 300 egg per hen per year, will need them on a good layer feed also.

Quail only lay in the spring, so thats why the need for 16 hr of light.
