My quails eye keeps getting stuck closed. There is no obvious crust or wound. It releases itself whenever I hold a wet paper towel and kinda massage it a little bit but then 30-60 minutes later it’s stuck back closed.

Never mind there is a very very small wound I have rinsed it with warm saline and will keep checking on her she also has been separated since I noticed her eye was stuck closed.

Is there anything in the cage that can scratch her?
Have you seen others pecking eyes?
I think my roo might have pecked her eye while trying to mount her she’s eating and everything just that eye kept letting stuck closed there’s nothing for her to get scratched on. it is a very very tiny peck mark or scratch on the edge of her eyelid. I will keep you updated and try get a picture of it.

I can’t get a picture I can’t find the scratch anymore but her eye was not stuck closed this time.

I went through this too before with a female cortex quail that had both eyes crushed over. After using warm water and a Qtip To wipe them 30 minutes later they became unstuck.
Then today I find we have another female this time they dont look crusted just stuck closed. So I am trying the same water treatment on her but so far they are still closed. I can see little movement under the eyelids as if the eye ball is moving. I have her inside to keep watching and treating both eyes every hour or so to kept them moist.
