quail feed

im having trouble finding quail feed. i have a bag of turkey starter which is 30% protein, but thats all i can find. is that ok? i cant find gamebird starter anywhere. plenty of 16% chicken feed and some 20% chicken feed starter but nothing inbetween. where can i buy gamebird feed? my feed store doesnt have it. they have been on 30% turkey starter for 12 weeks now and they seem fine.

The turkey starter will be fine. 20% protein is the lowest you ever want to feed your quail and I wouldn't do that long if I could help it. If you have to feed something that is less than 25% then you might want add meal worms or something like that to the feed to boost the protein.

or you could add alpha sprouted seeds, very high in protein mine love it.

I had to special order my feed. You may ask the feed store what is available. So few people raise them around here that no one stocks it but all of them are happy to order it with no extra cost added.
