I am going to be purchasing some quail. Finding a commercial diet has been nearly impossible. A friend recommended finding a non gmo feed, which I have been unable to locate locally. I would appreciate any information regarding a good manufacturer of quail feed.

we feed our quail regular chick feed, for the extra protein in it, or you could feed them southern states specialty flock feed also known as southern states super breeder.

Purina has a gamebird feed you may be able to have ordered in(if they are a dealer) it is hard to find feed for quail in some loactions.
I dont know about getting the non gmo and all that but i would make sure you are staying in the % range you need to be.
Nothing lower then 24% for adults and get 30% for chicks if you can. Some local feed stores can and will order the feed for you, just have to ask. It took me calling 10 feed stores to find 30% for the chicks. And they do much better on it then the 24%( all i could get at TSC).

If you have a Rural King near you, they carry (at least locally here) a 28% protein game bird feed. Tractor Supply occasionally has something similar, or will order it. My Southern States carries a 28% as well. If you have a local feed/farmers mill - you can get something made up. My local mixes a 28% for around a dollar cheaper per 50lbs (cheaper if I buy bulk) than the chains.

I feed Manna Pro Gamebird/Showbird for life. Just makes things easier. I don't like the idea of GMOs either but paying for a non GMO or organic food would make it too expensive to raise my quail and other birds. Sometimes you have to pick your battles.
