I started my coturnix on Purina gamebird starter, and have now switched to the regular chow. My problem is that the quail keep looking at it and then back me with this "where's the food" look. They obviously don't like it. I'm thinking they don't recognize the unground seed/grain in it as food (great, I have urban McQuail
). They have been on it for at least a week, and egg production is going up again, so they must be doing okay on it, but since I use a home built feeder that gets refilled once a month, it is tough to tell what daily consumption is. Any suggestions? Any other feed out there that they might like better? BTW my half grown ringnecks took to it really well, just not the quail.
