quail food?

on the live food for quails - meal worms, black soldier fly larvae, fodder etc

if you give them BSFL on a regular basis; can you simply go with certain types of fodder and the occasional mealworm treat, and keep them healthy and happy, as far as food goes?

If you've access to some non-sprayed lawn, you can put them in a quail tractor during the day so they can eat up ants and other little critters in the grass. Of course this will depend on the breed of quail you have & how safe your area is; regular Japanese coturnix can stay together in tractors in higher numbers, and you'd want 1/2" wire mesh to protect quail from say snakes or weasels if you have them.
