Quail for egg production???

Thats great.
I am saying I sell quail eggs now to hatch as fast as I can get the birds to lay. I have OTHER customers year round But they are nothing like now. Chickens are an easy sell. I have to advertise quail eggs , the people seek out chicken eggs. My eaters get a 24 ea. carton of quail eggs. where Chickens are only 12... Resturants will have to have a reliable supply 12 months. I had 1 call THIS WEEK & they would want a CONTRACT to buy from 50 doz to 100 doz a week. If you don't deliver you pay there (resturant) losses.. Could get costly

these resturaunts here are mostly small takeout type coupla jars of pickled eggs on a counter they sell 1 or 2 with the food they sell I took a small carton of BW eggs and their eyes lit up they said the same thing you did about not being able to get enough and would take all I could bring I explained I would not be selling them to eat only to hatch I am pretty sure they would not want a contract maybe the larger buffet "nice" places in town probally would I am kina in the sticks here LOL

One word: Sushi.

There is something called Tobiko with Quail egg and it is just this side of heaven!!! sticky rice on the bottom, wrapped in seaweed with tobiko (fish eggs) on top and a raw quail yolk on top. SO GOOD!!!! Sounds disgusting, but I'll try just about anything once and let me tell you - it is fantastic.

I don't know about regulations regarding egg sales to restaurants, but I can guarantee that Japanese restaurants (at least those with a sushi bar) do buy Quail eggs :)

sounds like a whopper case of salmonella just waiting to happen....

You'd think so, wouldn't you? But I eat the stuff all the time. I think salmonella is one of those things that if you have a decent immune system your body can handle it but if your immune system is low you'll get very ill. Then again, I'm no doctor, this is just from years of eating raw quail egg :)
