Quail hatchers help!!!!! PLEASE!!!!

How many do you have? At around 1-2 weeks old I like to give at least .25 sq ft of Brooder space after 2 weeks it goes up to .50 sq ft. Make sure there not over crowed and they won't peck each other. Do the math and make Shure you have at least .25 sq feet per chick. Use the sheets to darken

I will keep you posted!!!

Thanks Amy

I've been reading from a bunch of sources, so, sorry to say, I can't tell you where this tidbit comes from -- but I read that quail need to be able to GET AWAY from the light -- it stresses them to not be able to go into the shade/dark....so I laid a large sheet of cardboard over the middle of my brooder box, and they can have their choice of light or shade.

Also, if they are old enough they might be boinking their little heads on the lid --

Well today I have them under a red light and they are divided into 2 boxes 18 in each. The one they had pecked yesterday evening died overnight.

I gave them some hard boiled eggs this morning and I am watching them to see if they are still pecking!

Can anyone tell me what the normal decrease of temp should be for them. They are alittle over a week old now and I know with baby chicks it is 5 degrees per week.

Thanks for the help!!

they need more protein make some scrambled eggs for them. I found that bobwhites go canable unless on high protein. good luck.
