Quail Hatching!!! Update.... pics added

I have another question that I forgot to ask. What do you use for a waterer for the babies? I have one that I use for my baby chickens but it is in use right now. So any good ideas about that?

we made a chicky waterer out of a shallow plastic plate/container and a soda can...poke a hole right near the top with a screwdriver or ice pick...fill can with water put plate on top and flip

You can get special chick water bases for quart waterers at the local feedstore or TSC. Or use a regular waterer but fill the base with marbles/stones so they can't drown.

I can't wait til my BWs hatch.

I set 12 once, and within 24 hours they had all pipped, and sat there... sat there... sat there... then 24 hours later they all hatched within like, 10 minutes.

I think that 13 babies is all I'm gonna get. The one that I had that was trying to come out didn't make it and I have 6 in the incubator still but it doesn't look good. But this is my first time and I'm happy with 13 out of 20. I have 40 some chicken eggs coming next week so I think that I can do better. I learned a lot from this hatch.

This was my very first baby to ever hatch in an incubator. We were lucky enough to walk in the door just as it was starting to push out of its shell

This is a picture of the group of 13 babies. They are so cute. You really don't understand how small they are until you hold them in your hand. Its amazing

Thanks everyone for your help along the way. I really appreciate it and I'm glad I found a place that can answer all of my question.

I got 2 more babies out of the last 6 that I was sure weren't going to do anything. I can't believe it. I guess you guys really mean it when you say to leave them in there longer than you think. I'm so excited. That means I now have 15 out of 20. Not bad for my first time. It would be so cool if more hatched over night. Thanks again everyone.
