I'd like to start this by saying my spell check insists on changing "molting" to "melting" and this was almost a very strange post indeed
So the girls have molted, luckily they seem mostly done at this point, but were having some nasty cold snaps, right now. Daytime temps are still in the 40s over the next few days but night temps are dropping good. Its 23° out right now and I'm worried their summer plumage wont be up to the task, not to mention a few of them are still a bit patchy. They've got some big piles of hay to burrow into but no heat source at night. I'd also already taken the wind break down as the tarp I had to put up due to leaks was turning it into a sauna in the 90s when it got into the 60s the last two weeks.
Its should only last a few days, and it warms up good during The day. Should I put the windbreaks back up?
Im honestly more worried about them being patchy. Frostbite going to be a concern?
(I'm sorry I'm always fretting about this kinda stuff, I know I worry to much, but posting about it makes me feel a little better.)
