Quail Humidity during lockdown

It depends on the individual their like chickens the they are younger the easier they are to tame. I hand feed the babies from week one and I train them to come on comand.

I'm trying a no turn dry hatch with about 55 coturnix quail eggs and they seem to be developing okay. My hatch rate is around 90-95% with no turn, but I've never done dry hatch. The humidity went down to about 41 but around day five it stayed 36 and is slowly going up and down it's rather wierd. Any tips on dry hatch?
A couple people on here have experience with dry hatch but I’ve noticed that the humidity in the actual room plays a big part. I’m very conscious about how warm or cold it is in the room the incubator is in. During the day when it’s warm, I keep the A/C on and the humidity stays where I want it and if I don’t turn it on and it’s warm, humidity will increase too high. So maybe that? And also depends on the incubator.

Awe that’s so cool! I love when birds know and love their owners. They really build such special bonds. My quail girls will come when I call them, they get excited to see me and VERY excited when they get treats. Lol. I eventually want to get some other species of birds. I bet the finches are super tiny when they hatch huh? They have such pretty sounds. 🥰

Thanks for the helpful information, I have my incubator in my garage during the summer because it stays nice and tends to stay room temperature, but not during winter. Overall my RH is around 35% most days and it slowly goes up and down, but that's to be expected. The eggs are on day 6 now and around lockdown I think I'm going to do a hatch along.

This is Bluebell my lil budgie he is fully recall trained and I can go anywhere with him and he will follow. However he can be cheeky when it's time for him to go back in the cage he waddles away like a lil duck right up my arm and he insists on eating every non edible thing in sight.

Yeah do it!! I’d like to see that! It’s so fun so watch other people and their hatches. I’ve got the next 3 days off work for my little guys lockdown and to spend time with them after they’re fluffed up. Also, I cheat and keep a camera on them when I’m at work to keep a eye on humidity and temp. I have the boyfriend go over and add water if it gets too low. Lol. 😅

Oh look at him! He’s a cutie pie! And by the looks of it, he knows it! 😅 Not a camera shy little fellow! They are super smart little things! That’s amazing that he’s recall trained! I’ve never heard of those species of birds being so well trained. You must spend a lot of time with them, and birds really deserve that too.

Yup I trained him sense he was 30 days old. He likes it when I put in the aviary to get his energy out and he treats stealing the quail food like a game of will he catch me.

Oh okay! Yeah this is first time I’m hearing 30%. That is good to know though. If they turn out all messed up, which I really hope not, I’ll know where I went wrong. I did my first batch last year at 45% and all of them were fine except one. Thanks for the input! So safe to put them at 55% during lockdown? Also, I got recounted my days and they go into lockdown tomorrow morning.
One thing to watch out for with the higher humidity is curled toes. My first two hatches I used the 45-50% humidity and had a lot of curled toe chicks. A couple were so bad that I had to cull them. After I started incubating at 30%, the number of curled toes went way down.
