Quail injury, possible infection, don't know what it is or how to help.

So these are technically my mum's quail, but my younger brother and I look after them the most.

The one I need help with may need putting down, so I wanted to see if their is anything I could do for her before I take her.

And please keep in mind that I've only just managed to not only get my mum to agree to a vet visit, but also recently found a vet that's familiar with birds, although I'm uncertain whether they've treated quail, as they're not too common around here.

Anyway as of right now we only have 2 quail left, and they're nearly 2 years old.

One has had a broken leg for over 4 months, she hid it well, and it wasn't until I brought her and around 8 others in from a storm, that I noticed, but I think it had already been broken for around 1 to 2 weeks by then.

So I don't think anything can be done for it, but dispite it healing wrong, she seems to get around fine, and is as lively as the other one.

But this mourning I went down and found she'd been attacked through the bars, I think by a cat, as before I could even check on her, I heard near screams from one of my chickens who'd been visiting a neighbours, when I saw her, she was being chased by a new cat, which I quickly scared off, luckily she was fine, but some of the quail's primary feathers have been ripped off on one wing, this has now stopped bleeding, and should be fine, but any advice on pain relief and/or infection prevention would be a big help.

But now this is the main problem that could be it for her:

When I was checking her for injuries and her leg, I found something in the armpit area under the feathers (on the side with the broken leg), it's as if the skin on the leg has started to fall away from the muscle, there's no blood, and we can't smell any infection, but that would be my guess.

I took this picture with the flash on, and it's the best I can get at the moment, but if more pictures are needed I'll find help to hold her.

So if anyone knows what this is, or of any quail friendly treatments that could help, please let me know, as I know quails can recover from a lot, but vets around here usually just suggest putting them down if they're unfamiliar with the species, such as quail, chickens and rats, so I want to see if there's any hope for her here before taking her in a couple days.

My main questions are:

Is there anything I can do for her under leg injury.

Any advice on deterring cats.

And if the end result is to put her down, what would be the best thing to do for the last quail, as she's easily stressed, and lashes out at others when agitated, so I'm uncertain whether rehoming her to someone with more quail would be safe for both the other birds, and her, as she's not exactly young anymore.

And if you read all of this, I want to apologise, I've never gotten the hang of keeping things short.
