I have 2 female quail that lay eggs daily. They are about to turn 2 years old in june. Today I found a soft shelled egg. They ate part of it and left the soft outer part that's supposed to be a shell. Should I be concerned that a soft shelled egg was laid? Is there something they need? I am unsure which one laid it but I provide them with unlimited oyster shell. I also give them mealworms a few times a week. They eat gamebird showbird feed along with grit on the side. I give them boiled eggs once or twice a week as a treat. Could it be their age? Both are acting normally and eating the same

Don't worry about a single soft shelled egg, but if it becomes a regular thing there could be a problem.
Agreed. One soft shell egg is nothing to worry about. If anything they will slow down laying. I have 5 quail left and I only get 1-2 eggs a day. Also they need about 14 hrs daylight to be at peak performance.
