Hi i recently checked on my quail and one has a limp but when i look at it there no signs of any swelling etc i recently cut a huge mudball off its toe as it had that when i noticed it starting (other one had bigger and no limp)

There no swelling when rubbing its belly area there seems no sign of trapped egg etc the only thing i could feel was a pointy bit which im guessing was tip of ribcage through feathers and stuff (was laying it on back so looked like hotdog)

Its still eating drinking and digging for mealworms etc fine but bit worried it something any ideas what it could be

Im uploading a video to youtube of it wandering around limping abit but fine (although at end it finds a worm and defends it from other quail) ill edit vid in this post in a min when done
Edit: the video

As you can see its abit slow and limps/hops abit when walking but otherwise acts normally digging etc

No clue what it is, but I'd definitely keep a watch on her and see if it gets better or worse.
I had a button quail hen with an unexplained limp once too. There was no change for months so eventually I decided to cull her - when an animal limps it's always in pain, so it shouldn't be allowed to go on.
Completely out of topic, but what are you keeping them in exactly? Do you have a picture of the whole thing? Looks like a nice sized enclosure. And I like the bedding too.

Could have hurt it by what she was doing in the video, fighting over a mealworm or whatever? Maybe jumping in and out of the bowl? Probably just strained it. Keep an eye on her, should clear up in a few days.

Just got a 1m2 garden planter that meant as like a small greenhouse for wintering plants/baby plant grower
For flooring it started as the cat litter that turns into sawdust as chicks then as they pooped etc i just put a layer of shreaded paper and eventally they started chucking sand out there dishes so it now a mix of there dry poop shreaded papper sand/dust and seed/pellets but as the food and water kept in one corner they havent got sick etc
And as they kept chucking the sand i just keep in in pyrex dishes that meant for cooking lasagna etc in so it easy scoop

I got it mostly for chicks as was hatching 48 but only 6 hatched (cheap incubator and first try) shortly after hatching 4 died (couldnt get out egg/splayed legs) so now the 2 that live kept in it as 1mx1m enough for upto 8 i think (around 9ftx9ft at 1ft2 per bird)

Small update it not gotton better and when i rubbed leg etc to see what part hunt feet/leg no reaction but when i get to wing/top leg it seem to withdraw like it in pain there any ideas if this just a bruise type pain or something more

it seems ok standing /laying it just seems be the walking it limps on but hopefully it just stuck paper or something
