quail nestboxes?

will quail lay in a raised nestbox? if so, how many quail per 1 ftX1 ft nestbox?

My quail like to lay their eggs in the sand box.

Mine have a cubby, and lay in there, but it varies for each quail grouping. However a box can make them feel secure, and quail lay in secure spots.

Personally, from what I've seen in others' coops (Bobs, that is).......the "nesting box" ended up being the "toilet without lighting".....

i put a nesting box inside my coop(coturnix) they never use it, i sometimes see them standing in it, but they usually lay them right next to their sand tray, all of them lay them in the same spot

Works fine, since hardware cloth is 2 ft wide, we enclosed a 1X2 part of the pens in wood, making a box they could hide in, lay in and sleep in. Mine are outside on a covered patio, they go inside to sleep and lay and run in and out as they please. saved money and worked out well.
