Yes, I heard of that too. She is missing a small patch of fluff on her head... Might've been from the impact. Is it like, I dunno, a concussion or something? Will she get better?

I can't judge your particular situation.

I had a quail chick fall from about 4 feet and I thought for a day or 2 she would need to be culled but she made it through with a full recovery after about a week. I've also had adult quail die from a head bonk.

The missing fluff is probably from mating.

cull means kill. It's the humane thing to do, especially if she did suffer brain damage and is not getting better. She could have been injured / squashed in the pile up too, you said they were all bunched together? If something spooked them and they started thrashing around or trying to climb somewhere, she could have been trampled too.

yeah i guess. and they're in our shed for now, so nothing could've spooked them.also that's what i was thinking, that she got squashed. her underside feels tender... but thank you

What do you mean by "cull"? Also, what type of injury do you think it could be?

It could be any number of injuries. It could be a head injury, internal, or leg.

Head injuries usually come from hitting their head when they flush or from being pecked.

Internal injuries could be caused from being trampled, having too many birds pile on top of her if it got cold.

Leg injuries could come from slipping on a smooth surface, pecking, being trampled, etc.

Culling is to kill the bird. I hate culling birds, but if they're suffering, it can be the kindest thing to do for them.

Yup! She's completely fine now... Can't tell her apart from the others lol. I'm so happy for her! ))
