Quail question

I recently missed buying a pair of quail at an auction. The male was small about the size of a pharoah quail. He was powder blue all over except a red spot on top of his head. The female was a mottled brown and tan color. Any ideas on what they might have been?

if they had a feather knot on their head then they are gambels. if not then most likely they are buttons
