Quail sound

So I rescued a quail when she was 5 weeks old, had her nearly a month now. She gets handled a lot and always gets her fave foods when I hold her, although it does seem 50/50 whether she enjoys it or gets stressed.

I think I’ve figured out her happy little cheeps from when she’s eating her fave foods, but she also makes the sound attached and I’m worried she’s lonely or scared or something.

She does it in the early mornings, but also sometimes when I’ve handled her and put her back, she makes the sound, and sometimes just randomly - it starts quiet and then gets louder and louder.

She’s on her own at the moment which is temporary until we get her a couple of friends.

You’ll have to excuse the background noise on the mp3, but I’m hoping some of you wonderful people will know what sound she’s making!!

that's the noise they make when they think they're by themselves. Sometimes they just do it randomly.

Mine generally make that sound when they're calling for their friends. She's probably lonely.

thanks I got her a friend and she chirps at me less - though still does as she knows I give her treats and cuddles!
